About the role:

We’re looking for someone to oversee, identify risks and mitigate he risks ion Financeit’s merchant network both in Canada and the United States.

What you'll be doing:

Merchant Management/Onboarding

  • Oversee the merchant onboarding guidelines and procedures in Canada and the United States, mitigating merchant reputational and financial risk
  • Ensure new merchants are onboarded within established SLAs and within the prescribed risk policy guidelines
  • Oversee merchant loss detection and mitigation, minimizing the financial loss associated with individual merchants
  • Provide timely analytics and reporting of merchant risk strategies and KPIs
  • Advise and work with operations to implement appropriate risk controls and training
  • Develop, recommend, and manage, associated 3rd party merchant / credit related vendor relationships and contracts
  • Contribute to Financeit’s overall risk strategies
  • Identify opportunities for improving the merchant onboarding processes and detecting / minimizing merchant losses
  • Perform Risk Control Self-Assessments of owned processes
  • Establish and maintain internal audit policy and procedures
  • Contribute to the risk reporting for Financeit and its lenders
  • Lead the creation of ad hoc reports as required from various team and/lender requests
  • Manage the productivity, performance management, and development of direct reports

Other Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Financeit’s overall risk strategies

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in consumer or small to medium sized enterprise financing, ideally in a point-of-sale lending environment
  • 5+ years of experience working in consumer credit risk management and point of sale merchant network management
  • Knowledge or experience in merchant loss and fraud risk
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Economics; Master’s degree preferred
  • Sound knowledge of credit risk methodologies, measurement, management and monitoring
  • Strong vendor management skills (commercial and consumer credit, fraud, decision systems/analytic platforms)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in analytical methods and model development
  • Advanced Excel skills is a must
  • Proven ability to balance sound risk management principles with business goals
  • Broad financial expertise with knowledge of financial and economic fundamentals, along with business policies, products, processes, systems, and roles
  • Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality in critical and sensitive information, records, and reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
